- Top Ten Tuesday was started by The Broke and the Bookish, and was taken over by That Artsy Reader Girl in 2018.
This week’s Top Ten Tuesday is a Halloween Freebie! I decided to take a look at my Goodreads TBR to see what 10 horror books I am hoping to read in the next year! I am not really celebrating Halloween a ton this year as most parties are happening the weekend after, when I’ll be out of town, but I am excited to see if I can get up to some Halloween shenanigans while in New Orleans! If you are looking for something more Halloweenish but aren’t really wanting to read a full novel, my anthology comes out tomorrow! Get some vampire and dragon fun!
The Tenth Girl by Sara Faring
I’ve been waiting for this book to come out all year, and now that it’s out…I haven’t bought it yet. Whoops! But still, ISOLATED FINISHING SCHOOL. IN ARGENTINA. SPIRITS. POSSESSION. I am beyond sold.
Bedbugs by Ben H. Winters
I bought this book because I love Quirk Books and what they produce, bedbugs are absolutely terrifying, and I know it’ll make me itch the whole time. Which is also why I haven’t read it yet I think. BEDBUGS FROM HELL.
The Deep by Alma Katsu
This book comes out in March 2020, and I am so incredibly bummed that I’ve been denied an advance copy on both Netgalley and Edelwiess, but I’m hoping that I can free up my galley readings to wiggle a copy from somewhere else. Nonetheless, This is a book about the Titanic, and what if there was a supernatural reason it crashed?! I LOVE that. I love creepy ghost boats. The opening scene of The Ghost Ship is seriously one of my favorite things. GIVE ME.
The Remaking by Clay McLeod Chapman
Another horror book I got from Quirk Books at Bookcon! I unfortunately didn’t get it read before the release date, but I am intrigued. Urban legends based in Virginia, I am here for it.
Full Throttle by Joe Hill
I have a signed copy of this short story collection, and I am dying to read it. October got a bit away from me reading wise, but it may come with me on the airplane this weekend! I mean, it’s Joe Hill. Need I say more?
The King of Crows by Libba Bray
This is the fourth book in The Diviners series, and if you know anything about me, I LOVE this series. I talk about them way too much. This is the last book, the cover is gorgeous and I already have the audiobook set and ready to be bought. Then I’ll buy them all in paperback because I LOVE the covers. 1920s and ghost. BRING IT ON.
The Visible Filth by Nathan Ballingrud
This novella has been made into a movie that I thiiiink is on Hulu in the US (Netflix international?) I honestly don’t even remember what it’s about, but I am down for reading stuff before the movie comes out, and it being only a novella, should be quick and easy.
My Favorite Thing is Monsters by Emil Ferris
This book is gorgeous. It’s a graphic novel, and I definitely started it at one point, but wasn’t in the right headspace for it. The second volume isn’t out yet, which might be why I’ve been dragging my feet.
The Hearts We Sold by Emily Lloyd-Jones
This book is probably not actually horror, but it’s a Faustian deal. I’m in.
Mount Fitz Roy by Scott Sigler
This is entirely wishful thinking. I hope this sequel comes out next year, and I know when it does I’ll be buying it ASAP. And I have definitely not been waiting as long as other people!
Have you read any of these books? Any other horror book recommendations? Let me know!
